MOUNTAIN LINE TRANSIT ANNOUNCES NEW BUSES
Morgantown, WV-The new Mountain Line buses have a whole new look. The Authority will introduce these buses to the local community for the first time this Thursday night during the WVU football game. The new buses will be used for the shuttles from the Mountaineer Mall and the Authority invites everyone to take a $1.50 ride to the game.
These seven new buses were purchased with Federal Transit funding set aside by Senator Robert C. Byrd. These heavy duty -buses made by Gillig, of Hayward California, weigh 26,000 pounds and are 102” wide and 35’ long. The seating is for up to 31 people with additional standing room and all are wheelchair accessible with kneeling chassis and quick loading fold out ramps. Each bus is equipped with a bike rack, and digital signage on the front, curb and back of the bus. These $325,063 buses are built with several safety features inside and out, and they are designed to withstand a collision up to 35 mph without significant damage to the passenger compartment. The buses are making the nearly 3,000 mile cross country trip and the final bus is expected to arrive tomorrow [9/30/09].
