FREE BUS RIDES FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Morgantown, WV- On Wednesday March 4th, at 3:00 PM Mountain Line will hold a ceremony at its Garrett Street Depot to celebrate the High School Ride Free Program. This program is funded by the Greater Morgantown Area Youth Commission and provides the area high school students the ability to ride all local Mountain Line bus routes for free.
The recent change to the Blue Line (Rt 12) allows it to service University High School and the Southside Route (Rt 5) services Morgantown High School. Both routes give the students access to the depot where they can catch any of the other 19 routes that service Monongalia County.
This program provides alternative transportation to students for after school activities, sports, work, or Tech Ed programs. By using the depot as a drop off and pick up point to get the students to school this program could also lighten the traffic around the schools in the morning and afternoons. Students can also use this system on the weekends to get around Morgantown.
The High School Ride Free Program does not include the Grey Line service that runs daily from Clarksburg to Pittsburgh. All Mountain Line schedules and maps are available on WWW.BUSRIDE.ORG and the web site also features a new Trip Planner using Google Transit. For more information about the Mountain Line Transit Authority, call 291-RIDE (7433) or visit the website at WWW.BUSRIDE.ORG.
